BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has asserted that, unlike the Awami League, the BNP has never engaged in political collusion with other parties. Rizvi made these remarks during a prayer ceremony at the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, on Saturday, 31st August. The event was held in memory of the students who were injured or killed in the anti-dictatorship movement and was organised under the banner of ‘Shadharon Rickshaw Van Chalok’.
Addressing those he termed as conspirators, Rizvi stated, “We have led by valiant students in Bangladesh. He reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure a fair and credible investigation into the massacre, followed by appropriate judicial processes. He also informed the meeting about Bangladesh’s recent accession to the UN Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
Further emphasizing Bangladesh’s commitment, the Foreign Adviser expressed the nation’s ongoing engagement with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its strong dedication to establishing a peace process for Palestine, condemning Islamophobia and hate crimes against Muslims. He also underscored the importance of enhancing trade and investment by bolstering transportation and communication infrastructure within OIC member states.
On the sidelines of the CFM, the Foreign Adviser held discussions with his counterparts from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Pakistan. Meanwhile, on 29th August, an open-ended meeting of the OIC Ad Hoc Ministerial Committee on Accountability for Human Rights Violations against the Rohingyas was held alongside the CFM. During this session, the Foreign Adviser underscored the current situation in Rakhine State and urged the international community to maintain pressure on Myanmar for a swift resolution to the crisis.
