Business Report :

The interim government has decided to sell 52 luxurious cars imported by former members of the now dissolved 12th Jatiya Sangsad, finance and commerce adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday.

The cars are yet to be released from ports, the adviser told journalists after a meeting with businessmen at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The government will collect customs tax by selling these cars, which were imported before the ouster of the Awami League-led government earlier this month.

The National Board of Revenue has been ordered to sell the cars.
“The duty-free cars imported by former MPs stuck at the port will not be sent back. Bangladesh will lose revenue if they are sent back,” said Salehuddin.

According to people familiar with today’s meeting, most of the cars are from the Toyota brand’s LandCruiser series.
