Bangladesh U-20 bag SAFF title

Bangladesh Under-20 National Football team clinched the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-20 Championship title crushing Nepal Under-20 National Football team 4-1 in the final at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Complex in Nepal on Wednesday. Bangladesh led the first half 1-0.

Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Nepal by 1-2 goals in their Group-A match at the same venue on August 22.
Bangladesh took sweet revenge over Nepal and also gained the SAFF Under-20 Championship crown, the most prestigious trophy of the South Asian region for youth footballers.

Mirajul Islam of Bangladesh entered the Nepal citadel after dodging past one Nepalese defender and the other defenders fouled him just few yards from the Nepalese D-box in the 1st minute of the injury time of the first half. Thus, the referee awarded a free-kick in favour of Bangladesh. Mirajul Islam put his team ahead (1-0) by a spectacular right-footer free-kick in the 2nd minute of the injury time of the first-half.

After the lemon-break, Mirajul Islam doubled the margin by a header utilising a header of his teammate Asadul in the 55th minute of the match.
Rabby Hossen Rahul made it 3-0 by struck the ball into the blank net using a back pass of his teammate Mirajul Islam in the 71st minute of the game.

Samir Tamang of Nepal reduced the margin (1-3) in the 80th minute of the clash.
Piash Ahmed Nova put the last nail on Nepal’s coffin capitalising a left-side cross of his teammate Rabby Hossen Rahul in the 6th minute of the injury time of the second-half.
