Sheikh Arif Bulbon :

Several songs have provided inspiration and encouragement to the anti-discrimination students’ movement.
However, several lines of the song that have been spread like slogans are ‘Shono Mohajon’ by ‘Shunno’ band.

The song written by Shahan Kobondho has been widely used in processions, slogans, wall-writings and even on social media reels.

The lines of this song titled “‘Shono Mohajon, Ami Noyto Ekjon/ Shono Mohajon, Amra Onekjon,” or “Amar Bichar Tumi Koro, Tomar Bichar Korbe Ke?” are now adorning the walls of the city.

‘Shunno’ band’s fourth album ‘Bhaago’ was released in 2014. The third song of this album was ‘Shono Mohajon’.
The song of a decade ago was reborn in this revolution. Fuad Al Muqtadir, the music producer of the song, is excited about the matter.

Fuad Al Muqtadir told the story of making the song to this correspondent, “One day Emil (vocalist and guitarist of the band ‘Shunno’) called me and said, ‘Fuad Bhai, we have not produced songs together for a long time. Let’s do something. I was free that day.’ I said to Emil, ‘You come to the studio. Meanwhile, Shahan Kobondho came. We made the song in a few hours.”

Expressing his feelings, Fuad Al Muqtadir said, “The awakening of oppressed people has been talked about in this song. The language of any marginalised people is this song. We wanted to do something big. 10 years later, the way this song was used in the movement, it was very nice to see. It seems, finally the song was fulfiled.”

Meanwhile, Imrul Karim Emil, vocalist and guitarist of the band ‘Shunno,’ is happy that ‘Shono Mohajon’ has inspired the audience in such a way.

Emil said, “‘Shono Mohajon’ is the result of all the efforts of our ‘Shunno’ band. As members of the band then I, Shaker Reza, Andrew Michael Gomez and Rafatul Bari Labib were there.

It was an advanced work. So, everyone’s role was important. The song was produced by Fuad Al Muqtadir and the lyricist was Shahan Kobondho. We feel very honoured by the way the song has been used in recent movements. Through this song, we have also been able to be a part of the student-people revolution.”

“I have seen the opinion of many people, who may have been a little upset during the movement, they also got inspiration after listening to our song, and they also got inspiration and participated in the protest. We are grateful to those who accepted the song with such love,” he also said.
