BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has asserted that, despite the fall of the dictatorship, the allies and supporters of the ousted fascist regime are still attempting to incite anarchy in various institutions across the country.

He accused these groups of trying to destabilise the nation with the aim of restoring dictatorial rule.
Rizvi made these remarks while paying homage at the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on the occasion of his 48th death anniversary on Tuesday, 27th August.

“Today marks the 48th death anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam, a day of great significance,” Rizvi stated.
“Bengalis across the nation remember this day with deep respect. Nazrul’s literary works provide us with the strength to fight against injustice, a theme that resonates through his poems, songs, and writings. He was a pivotal figure in our Bengali culture-a poet of love with a spirit of rebellion. Such an extraordinary person is our national poet.”

Reflecting on recent events, Rizvi said, “In the recent student movement, our young students collectively overthrew a dreadful dictator. Throughout the movement, Nazrul’s song ‘Karar Oi Louho Kopat’ echoed, empowering the students in their fight for the liberation of democracy.”

Rizvi further emphasised the enduring influence of Nazrul’s works, stating, “Nazrul’s poems and songs continue to inspire us in our struggle against dictators. Whenever we are imprisoned, we sing Nazrul’s songs. When we march for justice, his songs motivate us. During our times of imprisonment, his songs and poems always lifted our spirits.”

Turning his attention to the current political climate, Rizvi accused Sheikh Hasina of being supported by foreign powers rather than the people of Bangladesh. He expressed concern over recent actions by a neighbouring country, stating, “A few days ago, this country opened their Dambur Dam, flooding the eastern part of Bangladesh, and on Monday, they opened all 109 gates of the Farakka Dam. These actions are being taken with the malicious intent of causing suffering to the people of our country.”

The event was attended by BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, Co-Organiser Prof. Aminul Islam, JSD Convenor Film Star Helal Khan, Member Secretary Zakir Hossain Rokon, Sessasebok Dol Party Leader Arifur Rahman Tushar, Chhatra Dal Central Parliament Vice President Touhidur Rahman Awal, and many others.
