Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus emphasized on Monday that the government is committed to protecting the rights of every citizen in Bangladesh, ensuring equal treatment for all, regardless of religious or ethnic background.

“Bangladesh is a large family where there is no majority or minority; all citizens will enjoy equal rights,” the Chief Adviser remarked during an exchange of greetings with leaders of Bangladesh’s Hindu community on the occasion of Janmastami, the auspicious celebration of Sri Krishna’s birth.

Professor Yunus expressed his vision of building a Bangladesh where everyone can practice their faith without fear, and where religious sites, such as temples, do not require protection.

“It is our responsibility to establish the rights of every citizen.

Our duty is to ensure justice for everyone,” he stated during the meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital.

Reiterating the unity among the country’s people, the Chief Adviser said, “As we are one family, there can be no divisions among us. We are equal citizens.

The leaders also informed the Chief Adviser that they had suspended Janmastami celebrations in the flood-stricken parts of the country, focusing instead on sending food and relief to the affected people.

They praised Professor Yunus’ recent comments at the Dhakeswari Temple, believing that his words would contribute to building a non-communal society and ensuring religious harmony across the nation.

During the meeting, the Hindu leaders raised concerns about the grabbing of Hindu property, including temple lands.
