Friends of fascists still remain in admin: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated that while people are now able to breathe freely, remnants of fascism still persist in various administrative institutions. He made these remarks on Monday morning, August 26, while inaugurating a relief program for flood victims in front of the Institution of Engineers in the capital. The program was initiated by the Association of Engineers Bangladesh (AB) under the instructions of BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman, focusing on supporting the flood-affected areas in the northeastern region of the country.

Rizvi highlighted that for the past 16 years, Sheikh Hasina’s government has subjected BNP members and other opposition forces to various forms of persecution. “Those who resisted dictatorship and stood up for democracy were sidelined, denied promotions, and faced relentless oppression,” he said.

He also criticized the recent actions of the Ansar forces, questioning their audacity to block individuals even after their demands were met. Rizvi suggested that this was a deliberate attempt to undermine the current interim government. “Who are the secretaries today? They were appointed during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure. Those in the SP positions have not been innocent either—they participated in the oppression. To dismantle fascism, the administration needs to be restructured at the grassroots level. Hasina’s allies are still biding their time, waiting for an opportunity to launch a counter-revolution.”

Rizvi urged the interim government to remove those who worked to protect Sheikh Hasina’s regime and replace them with competent individuals. He expressed concern that these changes are being intentionally delayed, pointing out the recent incident where Ansar forces attacked young students. “This brutality would not have occurred if the administration had been cleansed of Hasina’s loyalists,” Rizvi asserted.
