Times of India :

India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted a remand note to a trial court seeking judicial custody of Sanjay Roy, the lone suspect arrested in the R G Kar Hospital rape-murder case.
The remand note, presented on Friday, makes no mention of “gang rape” or the possible involvement of more than one person in the crime that took place on August 9.
The parents of the victim, a postgraduate medical student, have alleged that their daughter was gang-raped before being murdered, suggesting the involvement of multiple perpetrators.
They have filed a petition with the Calcutta High Court seeking a “court-monitored probe” into their suspicions. Sanjay Roy, a traffic police volunteer in Kolkata, has been remanded to judicial custody until September 6 by the trial court.
He has been taken to Presidency Jail, where he will be kept in solitary confinement under round-the-clock manual and CCTV surveillance, according to officials.
