Various temple committees in Barishal have decided to a portion of the puja celebration expenses of Sanatan Dharmalambi to the devotees of Feni and Comilla. Many have decided to curtail the costing of lighting and other expenses of the puja celebration and set up a fund to send it to the flood victims.
Ayan Chakraborty, editor of Dakshinaranjan Chakraborty Smriti Durga Mandir of Ward No. 27 of Barishal City Corporation said this is not help, it is the right of the poor people. This time, we have sent the light decorations to the flood victims through As-Sunnah Foundation without spending too much, he added.
Tanmoy Das, Secretary of Barishal Shankar Math Durga Puja Celebration Committee, said that we have already sent 20,000 taka to give relief to the flood affected districts, including Feni, Comilla.
A voluntary committee of 7 members has also been formed on behalf of the temple committee. If people do not come forward when people are in danger, who will come, Tanmoy asked.
