Menon remanded for 5 days

Workers Party President and former MP Rashed Khan Menon was remanded for five days in a murder case filed at Dhaka’s New Market Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order on Friday after the police produced him before the court around 4 p.m., seeking a 10-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Menon from the capital’s Gulshan area on Thursday night.

Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed with the New Market police station over the murder of a businessman named Abdul Wadud in the police station area during the recent Students led Anti-Discrimination Movement.

During the AL regime, Menon first served as the Minister of Private Aviation and Tourism and later as the Minister of Social Welfare.

His party was among the 14-party alliance led by the ruling Awami League during the last 15 years of the autocratic Hasina regime.
