Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has prepared to use 48 schools of City Corporation as shelters in case of disasters caused by heavy rains, floods and landslides. 6,000 packets of food have been prepared for distribution to shelters and affected citizens.
Due to the calamity, all types of leave, including weekends, of City Corporation officers and employees have been cancelled. An emergency control room has been set up in the electricity department of City Corporation in Dampara to avoid damage to public transport. This control room will serve the public 24 hours a day until the disaster is over. Control room number 023333630739.
In an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam in the conference room of Nagar Bhaban on Thursday, City Corporation Administrator Md. Tofail Islam gave various directions including formation of Quick Response Team. 7 Quick Response Teams are constituted for various high risk wards as per the instructions of the Administrator.
To avoid disaster damage, 7 teams are working to take people in vulnerable areas to the nearest shelters and provide them with relief materials, essential food and healthcare.
