National Doctors Forum (NDF) has asked the interim government to give docotors promotion based on seniority and merits saying most of those were deprived during the deposed Awami League government.
NDF leaders put ahead these demands during a call on with Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum on Wednesday.
They disclosed it in a press briefing at Ibn Sina Medical College and Hospital in the capital on Thursday.
“The central leaders of the NDF have introduced the organization with the Health Adviser. They also have stated the activities of the organization to the Adviser. The NDF has asked the Adviser that many of the doctors were deprived from promotion during the last 16 years of the dictatorship of Hasina,” said Professor Dr. Md. Najrul Islam, the President of NDF.
They also become victimized of oppressions during Hasina’s tenure.
“During the meeting, the Health Advisers appreciated the activities of the NDF for their cooperation to the ministry,” Professor Nazrul Islam said.
He said, Acting Director General of the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr. Robed Amin among others were present with the Adviser during the meeting.
The NDF President said that his organization has provide medical treatment to the injured agitators during the student led anti-discrimination movement. The NDF also provided financial supports to the injured students and people, implant artificial organs and donated 600 bags bloods.
Replying to a query, Professor Dr. Md. Mahmud Hossain said, more than five thousand injured were given medical treatment during the student led movement. “The situation was such difficult that we have even donate bloods even without cross matching the blood group,” he said.
NDF Senior Vice-President Professor Dr. Sajed Abdul Khaleque, Female Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. Habiba Chowdhury Sweet and Joint-Secretary Dr. Shahadat Hossain, among others were present.
