Director M K Zaman announced to make a movie titled ‘Mother of Democracy’ about former Prime Minister Khalda Zia. However, Khaleda Zia’s family and her party BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) did not give any permission to make the movie. So, a notice was sent to the producer and director of the movie.
The legal notice was sent by BNP’s Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Kayser Kamal. He said, “This notice has been sent to prevent those who are making movies about Khaleda Zia. No permission was taken from Khaleda and her family in this regard. Within the next five days, the director and producer will hold a press conference and withdraw their statement. Otherwise legal action will be taken.”
Meanwhile, producer Iqbal Hossain Akhond has admitted the issue of not taking permission. He said, “Talking to some members of the party, I started the plan of ‘Mother of Democracy’. However, permission was not officially taken. We will start work only with permission.”
Regarding the legal notice, the producer said, “We have not yet received the legal notice. I will definitely give a written answer if I get it.”
On August 19, director MK Zaman said that his first choice for the role of Khaleda Zia was Babita and Moushumi. While talking in this regard, he told this correspondent, “Khaleda Zia’s character needs a strong artiste to portray it beautifully. So, we are thinking about Babita and Moushumi. Both of them are now out of the country. Once the script is completed, we will contact to discuss this matter. They will not agree to act just by seeing the name of the movie. They will want to see the screenplay. They will agree to act only if they like the script. So, I want to talk to them about the whole preparation.”
