Dr. Mohammad Khalequzzaman, a distinguished agricultural scientist of the country, joined Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) on Wednesday (21 August 2024) as its Director General (Routine Charge).
Prior to the new position Dr. Khalequzzaman has been the Director (Research) of the institute. He began his career as a scientific officer of the Institute in 1994 and devotedly performing his duties at different positions over the last 30 years. Dr Khalequzzaman was born in 1967 at Harishangan village of Belabo Upazila in Narsingdi District. He passed SSC (Science) in 1982 and HSC (Science) in 1984 from the Dhaka Board.
He obtained his B.Sc. Ag. (Hons) degree in 1988 and MSC in 1996 from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
He did his PhD degree on Plant Biotechnology in 2003 from the University of Southampton, UK. At present, he is one of the senior scientists in National Agricultural Research System (NARS) in Bangladesh. He has 70 research articles published in different prestigious journals home and abroad.
He has visited many countries including United Kingdom, Thailand, South Korea, China, Belgium, Maldives, Nepal, India Philippine and Vietnamin relation to his research works. Personally he is blessed with two children.
