The news of minority persecution in Bangladesh is not true. These are just rumours. The Border Guard Bangladesh BGB informed the Indian Border Guard BSF at the border meeting held in Tripura’s Sabroom. The meeting was held at the battalion commander level at the ICP building of Sabroom land port across the Ramgarh border on Monday (August 19). In the meeting, BSF asked about the truth of the news published in the Indian media about the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, and the BGB said that these news were rumours.
In the meeting, the 15-member BGB was led by the director of 40 BGB battalion, Lt. Colonel Mohammad Muntasir Mamun. BSF was represented by 96 BSF Battalion Commandant Shri Abhimunya Ja. Besides Ramgarh 43 BGB battalion director Lt. Colonel Syed Imam Hussain and 109 BSF Battalion Commandant Shri Ashok Kumar were present in the meeting.
After the meeting, the director of 43 BGB battalion returned home. Colonel Syed Imam Hossain said that in recent times, the news of torture and persecution of minorities in Bangladesh has been published in the Indian media. BSF asked to know the truth of these news. The BGB told them that these reports were just rumors and that the minorities were living a normal and safe life.
He also said that the meeting was essentially a routine meeting. Smuggling, illegal border crossing, drug trafficking etc. were discussed in the meeting. Both sides agreed on mutual information exchange and cooperation to suppress crime and maintain peaceful situation especially at the border. The meeting was held on Monday from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
