Artistes from Dhaka raise their voices at Kolkata’s RG Kar rape issue

A movement is going on across the West Bengal to protest the rape and murder of a female doctor named Moumita Devnath at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Besides, protests have spread in other states including Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
Bollywood artistes are also protesting in solidarity with this movement. There are Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, among others.
Last Wednesday night, women from different parts of the state, including Kolkata, gathered and protested. Tollywood directors and artistes were present this time. Swastika Mukherjee, Rachana Banerjee, Parambrata, Ritwik Chakraborty and many others were seen in the field of movement.
This time the artistes of Dhaka also expressed their solidarity in this movement of Kolkata.
In solidarity with the ongoing protest against the rape and murder at RG Kar Hospital and to demand a fair investigation and trial of every previous rape case in Bangladesh popular actress Azmeri Haque Badhon called for a gathering at Dhaka University.
On Facebook, this actress wrote, “Demanding a fair investigation and trial of every previous rape case in Bangladesh since the mass uprising, and “Occupy Girls Night” (Meyera Raat Dokhol Koro)’ in solidarity with ongoing protests against rape and murder at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. 16 August, Friday 10:00pm (congregation from 9:00pm), anti-terrorist Raju Sculpture, Dhaka University.”
Actresses Sunehra Binte Kamal, Nazifa Tushi and many others shared the same post.
Meanwhile, actress Zakia Bari Mamo shared the picture of Moumita, who was tortured and killed after being raped and murdered in RG Kar hospital in Kolkata, and wrote on Facebook, “Such a death should not happen anywhere else.”
Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury shared a placard during the movement.
The placard reads, “If you educate your daughter about ‘bad’ touch, make sure your son knows about it too.”
Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed shared a video of the movement. In the video, a woman is heard saying, “We put the child in the race to be the first. But values are not being taught anywhere. Do not try to teach from the family. This is why such crimes are increasing. Everyone should be taught from childhood how to treat and respect girls.”
Actress Nazia Haque Orsha shared the picture of the movement and wrote, “Justice for her.”
Singer Badhon Sarkar Puja wrote, “It will never end until you teach your son to be safe instead of being a good person. Let the change start with you and your home. Every Moumita has the right to live her own life. Dhaka to Kolkata – Raise your voices for Moumita.”
Meanwhile, musician Farzana Wahid Shayan is at the forefront of any movement.
She came down to the streets with the students in the anti-discrimination movement. Now she released a song in solidarity with the people of Kolkata.
She posted the following song on her Facebook page on Tuesday night. The song of such words is – “Ei Meye Shono, Ei Raat Ei Bhor/Jotokhani Purusher, Taro Beshi Tor.”
Regarding talking about her published this song, she told this correspondent, “All the roads of all the countries of the world should be open for girls every night. Rape should be called rape, and murder should be called murder. I strongly protest this incident.”
Meanwhile, actors of Dhaka also raised their voice on this issue.
Popular TV actor Ziaul Faruk Apurba wrote, “Stand against all kinds of violence against women. No excuses! Stop now.”
Film actor Bappi Chowdhury wrote, “The essence of humanity is death. What a horrible shock! I can’t take it, it’s hard to accept. Someone’s mother, someone’s sister, someone’s loved one, even a woman in the world should never be subjected to such a terrible situation. It seems to me, there is no such punishment in the world, through which the soul of the sister will find peace. I demand the punishment of these ghouls, which will be an example for every man of perverted mentality.”
