Complaint filed with ICT against Hasina, 27 others

On Monday, a complaint was lodged with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) alleging genocide and crimes against humanity against 27 individuals, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The complaint also names former ministers Obaidul Quader, Rashed Khan Menon, and Hasanul Huq Inu among the accused.

Other prominent figures named in the complaint are Anwar Hossain Monju, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Huq, Hasan Mahmud, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mohammad Ali Arafat, Kamal Ahmed Mazumder, and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdullah Al Mamun.

Md Abul Hasan, father of Shahriar Hasan Alvi, who was killed during a recent anti-discrimination student movement, filed the complaint. The complaint was submitted to the ICT’s investigation agency and includes newspaper clippings and other documents.

The allegations are based on sections 3(2) and 4(1) and (2) of The International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973, which cover genocide and crimes against humanity.
