Sheikh Arif Bulbon :

Rathindra Nath Roy is a famous folk singer of Bangladesh. He has won the hearts of the listeners of this country by singing many patriotic songs.
In 1971, he played a unique role by performing songs as a regular vocalist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the liberation war of Bangladesh, and he became known as a vocal warrior.
Three songs written by late Gazi Mazharul Anwar, a renowned lyricist,
producer, director, and storyteller of the subcontinent who received the Independence Award and Ekushey Padak, are stirring the whole country with voice of Rathindra Nath Roy.
These three songs are: ‘Khodar Ghore Nalish Korte Dilona Amare’, ‘Tumi Arekbar Ashiya Jao More Kandaiya’ and ‘Sobai Bole Boyosh Bare Ami Boli Komere’.
The three songs are respectively from the movies ‘Nalish’, ‘Nagardola’ and ‘Fakir Majnu Shah’. These songs were composed by late Alauddin Ali.
When Gazi Mazharul Anwar was alive for five consecutive years on Channel i, there was a programme titled ‘Palki’.
Gazi Mazharul Anwar’s daughter Dithi Anwar used to present the programme. After the death of Gazi Mazharul Anwar, the programme stopped to air.
However, Rathindra Nath Roy came from America and participated in this programme during the ‘Palki’ programme was aired.
Sitting in front of Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Rathindra Nath Roy reminisced about the songs presented by Dithi Anwar. Gazi Mazharul Anwar also told the back stories about those songs.
This episode of Rathindra Nath Roy was aired in March 2019. The episode is still available to watch on YouTube.
Rathindra Nath Roy’s voice has several more popular songs. Even then these three songs written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar are more popular, which are still sung by artistes of this generation on various occasions.
Dithi Anwar told this correspondent, “There was a different kind of soul
relationship between Abbu (my father), Alauddin Ali Uncle, Rathin Uncle. These three songs of the three of them are still very popular. I had the good fortune to present the ‘Palki’ programme with my father and uncles and to tell stories through songs. Many things came up in
the reminiscence. Several other songs written by my father were sung by Rathin Uncle. But these three songs are more popular. I think that as long as Bangladesh exists, these songs will live among generations of singers-listeners-viewers because these songs are deeply embedded in people’s hearts.”
Dithi also said that her eldest son Adian Chowdhury has been admitted to George Washington University in Business Management. She will return to the country on September 12 after completing all the works of starting her son’s education.
