HJKP demands reopening of Pahartali Haji camp

A meeting of the Hajj Jatri Kayllan Parilshad was held at Hotel Paramount International Auditorium in the port city recently with its President Ahmadul Islam Chowdhury in the chair. Secretary General of the Parishad Principal Dr.Abdul Karim delivered welcome address in the meeting duly moderated by its Joint Secretary General Saleh Ahmed Suleman.
The speakers on the occasion said that the cost of performing Hajj increases by double , as a result the Hajjis decreased one third of the total quota this season . So the devout muslims desire to perform hajj with less expenditures than present cost. Moreover , for the pilgrims from Chattogram region, the existing Hajj Camp in Phartali , Chattogram should be reopened from next Hajj season .
The meeting also urged the interim govt and Religious Affairs Adviser to arrange ship service from Chattogram to Jeddah from 2025 . Mentionable that Pahartali Haji camp was established in 1948 over 9.35 acres of land beside the Chattogram-Dhaka highway in the port city. Among others, Prof.AKM Saifuddin, Adv. Anowarul Islam chowdhury, Jahedur Rahman Jahed, Abu Mohammad Nurul Islam, Md. Idrish Agrabadi, Principal Dr.Nurul Amin, Adv. Samiuddin, Alhaj Md. Sharif, Kazi Moulana Shihabuddin, Md. Nazim Nimu, Humayun Kader Khan Kasru, Adv.Md. Elias and Meher Ali Chowdhury spoke on the occasiion, a HJKP sources said.
