In a recent move by the Ministry of Public Administration, five retired additional secretaries have been reinstated and appointed as secretaries on a contractual basis. The notification was issued on Saturday.
The appointments are set for a period of two years from the date of joining, with the condition that the appointees sever their working relationships with other institutions and organisations.
The newly appointed secretaries include Sheikh Abdur Rashid, who will oversee the Secondary and Higher Education Department, Md Ehchanul Haque, appointed as Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department, Mohammad Abdul Momen, now Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Home Ministry, Nasimul Gani, appointed as Secretary of the Public Department of the President’s Office and MA Akmal Hossain Azad, who will serve as Secretary of the Railway Ministry.
This development follows the recent transition of the interim government after the departure of the Awami League administration. The interim government has rescinded the contractual appointments of the previous secretaries of these ministries and made several transfers to other ministries, as outlined in the notification.
