In response to the anti-discrimination student movement, the government has decided to establish specialised dedicated care units in all public hospitals across the country to ensure improved treatment for injured students.
This decision was reached during a meeting held on Saturday at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), involving coordinators of the student movement and officials from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the meeting, it was agreed that access to these specialised units will be restricted to doctors, nurses, and legal representatives of the patients. This measure aims to safeguard the patients, many of whom have sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment in these departments.
Concerns were raised about the potential risks during the post-operation period and the spread of diseases.
