City Desk :

Fifty seven candidates who have finally passed the 34th BCS have been living a miserable life with their elderly parents and family members till now, unable to join the service.

After passing the preliminary, written and viva-voce in this competitive exam like BCS, they hoped to engage themselves in national service.

They wanted to put a smile on the faces of parents and family members through appointment in the expected job.

After 8-9 long years, they still haven’t found a job. Elderly parents and other family members are speechless.

Due to the autocratic attitude of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) and reservation of 672 posts for 30 percent freedom fighter quota, 57 aspirants of the 34th BCS finally became victims of discrimination even though there were enough vacancies.

It is known that the circular of 34th BCS exam was publish in 2013. The results of the 34th BCS were published on August 29, 2015, after preliminary, written and viva-voce for about three and a half years.

Keeping 672 posts reserved, these candidates were placed in non-cadre posts showing the shortage of posts in the cadre service.

The PSC has not taken the initiative to recruit the non-cadre candidates of the 34th BCS despite requisitions from various ministries and departments.

Instead, PSC stopped all recruitment activities of 34th BCS without completing the recruitment of these eligible candidates.

As a result, the life of these candidates who were deprived of employment came to great distress. Later, a writ petition was filed in the High Court bench in 2015, hoping for justice by collecting requisitions for some of the posts sought by various ministries, including the finance ministry.

After a long hearing, the learned judge of the High Court bench ordered to give immediate appointment to these candidates who were deprived of appointment.

PSC became desperate to stop the recruitment of these candidates. They again appealed against the verdict. At present, the fate of these candidates and their lives and livelihood are stuck in the Appellate Division.

They never know when the wheel of their fortune will turn. Or the lamp of hope will be extinguished.

Meanwhile, the elderly parents of the family were hoping that their children would get a job and give them two handfuls of food.

But even though the hostile behavior of the government and PSC started extinguishing their lamp of hope, they started dreaming again about the arrival of an interim government after the fall of the dictatorial government in the country.

According to a source in the ministry, there are currently more than five lakh vacancies in government jobs. The latest data from the Ministry of Public Administration says that about 26 percent of the sanctioned posts in government jobs are vacant.
