Deputy Commissioner Dr. Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman of Chattogram has sought the cooperation of students to start police stations in Chattagram district and metropolis. On Saturday (August 10) afternoon, a discussion meeting was held between the district administration and the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement at Circuit House. In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said, we are giving the highest priority to restore peace and order by normalizing public life.
Chattagram district has 33 police stations including 17 in 15 upazilas and 16 in the metropolis. If we get at least 5 volunteers per police station, it will be possible to gradually bring policemen back to work by ensuring normal security in police stations. In the meeting, there was a fruitful discussion on ensuring security in police stations as well as upazila parishads, court building-adjacent areas, religious places of worship, City Corporation, Chattagram Wasa, Electricity Offices on a priority basis through coordination with the students.
In the meeting, a policy decision was taken to appoint three executive magistrates of the district administration as focal points for Chattogram North District, South District and Metropolis. At the same time, it was decided to employ two magistrates for market monitoring, two magistrates for receiving complaints and two magistrates for lost and found teams in coordination with students and volunteers. Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, Co-Coordinator of Chattagram Division of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement said, “The police are not our opponents, our opponents are all fascists.” Coordination of district administration with students is very important to normalize public life.
At this time, he said that the students will work in coordination with BNCC, Rover Scouts and Scouts in traffic control.
