SHEIKH ARIF BULBON :
We must proceed to build
a humane democratic
society, says Mostafa Sarwar Farooki

“There has been a mass uprising in our country. Now our interim
government is tasked with the important institutions like the Judiciary, Police Administration and Election Commission – by reforming these, move towards a fair election. The first task of this government will be to control law and order. After the success of the movement, law and order has weakened. Anarchy is heard all around.
The rule of law should be strengthened so that no one can abuse this successful movement. I hope the police brothers will join the work
as soon as possible. They will be
the new police of the new day – that is our hope. Bangladesh will have temples, mosques, pagodas, churches, veils, jeans – everything will exist in this society of many people. Hopefully, I see an awareness of this in our young society. Surely we will move towards building a humane democratic society.”
There should be freedom of expression: Sabila Nur
“Anarchy is going on in many parts of the country. Law and order will be restored quickly. People of all religions, all faiths can breathe life. Therefore, the paradigm of equality must be created. If there is a difference of opinion, no one should be kept axed. There must be freedom of expression. Everyone should be able to speak clearly. Whatever is required for environmental protection, they should be done. In addition, education and health sector need extensive development. Corruption is the biggest concern of our country. I would like this interim government to work to prevent corruption in every sector. From now on no one should be bribed for any work. Students protested for safe roads in 2018. Let the new government work on safe roads.”
Time to move forward together: Siam Ahmed
“The country is now going through a lot of trouble. Our development paths are temporarily closed. Business has stopped, those who eat day by day, their income has been stopped. Many houses have been set on fire and looted. We’ve been beaten a lot. Now if we divide ourselves religiously, then our backwardness will be prolonged. Now is not the time to screw up, time to move forward together. Get out of this situation as soon as possible. This movement will not be effective if the safety of people is not ensured. The times ahead are very important. Now a new possibility of Bangladesh has been created. Because, before this responsibility was only of the government. Citizen participation was not welcoming. Students have been controlling the traffic for several days, cleaning the road. Parents are also supporting them. At night, the violence in many areas has fallen to a general level. They are grouping themselves and also guarding. A generation of such political awakening but miracle, this is not always the case. It should be used. Those who are in the interim government, they have a clear image in people’s minds. They should use their honesty, skills and experience to move the country forward – that is the expectation.”
Censorship should not be imposed on artistic practices: Ashfaque Nipun
“My demand will be to the Information Ministry of the interim government to exercise free mass media. The mass media actually speaks of the people. But we have seen that in the last 15 years, the government has taken various types of mass media towards themselves either by fearing them or by giving them facilities. All but a handful of mass media have served flattering news. The dream of forming a communist government will be fulfilled if it is confirmed in the free mass media. As a director, I want all forms of censorship are eliminated. There is no censor board anywhere in the world, there is censor notification board. They give a grading. Let it be launched in tune with the world. The audience should be given the responsibility to judge whether they will watch the movie or not. I don’t want censorship in any kind of art practice, not just movies. Besides, a policy was made about OTT. We had a lot of conflicting things with this. To win, we can be muzzled, our contents can be closed. That policy must be prevented. If the policy is to be made, it should be the policy for the interests of the directors and artists. It should not be the policy of the government’s interest. Besides, the Cyber Security Act should be repealed.”
May this government take us towards our dreams: Raihan Rafi
“Let the law and order of the country be fixed, let the people sleep in peace. Let the police come back to work, let the students go back to school and college, let the people go to office and do business in peace. People can quickly return to normal life. And let there be no corruption. We all are dreaming of a new Bangladesh, this government should take us towards that dream. People’s disrespect for politics should be removed. As a director, my request is to reorganise the rules of the board of directors. They just started working, so I don’t want to tell all the demands at first. They also need to be given time to organise everything.”
