Time-befitting skilled manpower is key to sustainable dev: Haider Ahmad Khan FCA

When the country emerged from a mass democratic movement prominent account scientist and economist Haider Ahmad Khan, FCA, has stressed on time-befitting skilled manpower for sustainable development of Bangladesh.

Haider Ahmad Khan, FCA, is Chairman of Education Development Association. He is an educationist and author. Haider Ahmad Khan is working for social-economic development of the country.

He has written many books which achieved huge popularity among the readers.

The book, “Satyanneshon” (exploring the truth), is one of his best creations.
Haider Ahmad Khan focused on different issues on the social-economic development in the country in an exclusive interview with The New Nation recently.

The eminent economist said it is highly needed to create skilled manpower for our socio economic progress.
“Without creating skilled human resources which is needed in this time to keep the pace of the modern economy in this era of the new globalization,” he said.

“The artificial intelligence (AI) and such modern technogies are driving the world now. We have to mind it and be aware of it,” he said.

The economist said the knowledge based education is a key to economic development in the country.
In this issue, Haider Ahmed Khan recalled a Japanese business delegations’ speech during a meeting with FBCCI in Dhaka.

“The Japanese business delegates had come to Bangladesh for exploring investment opportunities here. During a meeting with FBCCI leaders, where I also attended, one of the Japanese businessmen told, ‘If it is needed to bring human resources from Japan with our money and machinery, then why we invest in Bangladesh?’ Such a statement focused the importance of developing skilled manpower in the country,” he said.

The economist said it is supposed to occur most of the employments in private sectors as it is an era of free market economy.

Meanwhile, the entrepreneurs of the private sector are definitely to seek skilled human resources.
He suggested the curriculum of the country must have to be skilled human resources oriented.

Our statistics showed that about 33 lakh youths are entering to work every year. “But if we do not create skilled manpower through quality and adequate education in light of the necessity for the free market economy then which happened of our poverty alleviation plan?” he questioned.

Haider Ahmed Khan said, several lakhs of foreigners are working in Bangladesh legally and illegally due to shortages of necessary skilled human resources in the country while crores of our native manpower are remaining unemployed.

About four crore of Bangladeshi workable youths out of seven crores are now unemployed as per published news reports.

In a report, UK’s influential magazine The Economist’s Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) said that about 47 percent graduate of Bangladesh are now unemployed.

If we be determined to achieve the UN’s sustainable development goal (SDG) by 2030, we must have to change the current unskilled and unemployed depicts of our youths.

Keeping our vast number of youths unskilled and unemployed achieving SDG by 2030 as well desired economic development of our country would not be possible.

The nation has to make crores of our youths as skilled human resources through proper education and trainings.
Besides, Haider Ahmad Khan also focused the chartered accountants’ role in corporate world.

He said, accountants working for corporate houses have a great role on economic development in a country.
“Accountants work in two important sections in the corporate houses, one is account preparations and the second is verifying accounts. The both are very important on real advancement of the big corporations as well the financial development of a country,” Haider Ahmad Khan said.

In case of preparing accounts, the investors can the real potentials of his probable investment through the accountants’ assumptions.

Besides, in case of verifying accounts, the share holders can get the true statements about the financial status of the companies.

The prominent Chartered Accountant said the accountants are working in public companies and private corporations. Accountability and correct and pure accounting in the both public companies and private entities are very important on bringing and keeping stability and smooth pace of economic development.

Cautious financial sum-up makes a company profitable while wrongful accounting pushes a corporation towards loss. As a result it is very important on correct and cautious accounting for a company’s improvement.
If any investor or entrepreneur invests amounts of money base on a wrongful accounting his business will be declining instead of desired progress.

Besides, skilled accountant could save a company from declining and can make enhancement through correct accounting, he explained.

In such way, accountants have played vital role in the country’s economic progress.
In case of stock exchange’s fake share valuations, the expert said, correct and honest accounting could save the investor from investing on wrong shares which can ensure keeping the stock market stable and vibrant.
“In such way, the accountants as well the chartered accountants are keeping the economic pace of progress speedier,” Haider Ahmad Khan said.

The expert asked youths to be CA for playing role in the economic enhancement of the country.
The economist also stressed on social stability saying stopping anarchies and uncertainty will restore the pace of economy of the country again.
