Court Correspondent :
All judicial proceedings in both divisions of the Supreme Court have been suspended indefinitely.
This decision was made by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan following consultations with President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
A press release regarding the suspension was issued by Md Shafiqul Islam, the Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division. The release provides no details on the reasons for the suspension or when proceedings might resume.
Meanwhile, President Mohammed Shahabuddin has appointed Senior Lawyer Md Asaduzzaman as the new Attorney General of Bangladesh.
The appointment was officially announced through a gazette notification issued by Law Secretary Md Golam Sarwar on Thursday.
Notably, Asaduzzaman’s appointment precedes the formation of the interim government, which is scheduled to be sworn in later that evening.
This change follows the resignation of former Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, who stepped down on August 7 due to “personal difficulties.”
