More than 700 employees of 10th to 20th grade level of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) have announced a complete strike to meet their six-point demand to eliminate discrimination.

They made these demands in a human chain in front of Uttara depot of Metrorail on Thursday.

The demands are as follows: They seek a uniform pay structure for all grades set at 2.3 times the National Pay Scale-2015, with arrears from the date of joining. They also call for CPF benefits with dues paid from the start of service and an integrated promotion system aligned with other government-owned companies and global metro systems.

Comprehensive service rules and allowances should be established, and employees should be granted permanent status at the end of their apprenticeship. Additionally, they require a secure transport system at all locations, including stations and depots, and insist on a zero-tolerance policy for domineering, discriminatory behavior and personal anger in the workplace.
