Dreams of a new day in their eyes

Students took to the streets to demand reform of quota in government jobs. At one point, the entire country became agitated by the attack on the students. Quota reform was one of the reasons for the fall of the government. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday (August 5) in the face of their demands. Showbiz stars supported the students both offline and online. They responded after this victory. Many of them have spoken directly to this correspondent. On top of that, they also shared their feelings on Facebook.

SHEIKH ARIF BULBON :
Of course, I will rejoice in victory, but now it is the time for restraint: Mostafa Sarwar Farooki

“Welcome to the land of the free! How did Sheikh Hasina become the worst and cruelest dictator in the history of the world from the daughter of the architect of the independence movement of the country. It will be read carefully by students of future history. And hope the politicians learn. The joy of victory must do! But now is the time of moderation, keeping eyes and ears open. We have seen the politics of revenge for 20 years. We will respond to revenge with kindness and empathy. Besides, we will keep our eyes open for the next two-three days. Surely we will move towards building a humane democratic society. Lastly, salute to Bangladeshi youth and people from all walks. Together we stand tall.”

This movement is an alert for the politicians:
Asif Akbar

“A dictatorship fell. The way the country was running, the country is not actually running. In the end our student society was victorious. It was proved that in Bangladesh in 1952, 1969, 1990 and 2024 – students never failed. Now will be new Bangladesh. It is expected that there will not be politics of laziness as before. Every party must start practicing democracy. Then the country’s democracy will be strong. Alert for this movement politicians. If you make a mistake in the future, you will suffer the consequences. Nepotism, tendering, corruption will not continue. A new generation has arisen. They are no longer with violent swings. We will all forget revenge and build a new Bangladesh.”

May there be no injustice in this country: Naznin Hasan Chumki

“If the Bengalis of Bangladesh make a fair demand, they know how to get it, it has been proved again. It feels good to think that there are still Bengalis who call injustice to injustice. This victory should not turn into sadness; it should be kept in mind. Now there may be a chaos, let it not happen. And as if there is no injustice in this country. We want to live happily and peacefully in this country. As citizens of this country, we should have that freedom. One thing is very important. Because of this movement, so many lives have been lost, they should be properly judged. Whoever comes to run the government, this must be judged.”
Let us work for a bright future: Azmeri Haque Badhon
“We are calling for an end to violence now. Reports of communal violence are deeply disturbing and should stop immediately. Our hard-earned freedom will be meaningless if our Hindu brothers and sisters and other communities are attacked. We stood by the students against the dictatorial regime, but the violence is condemnable. This revolution cannot be allowed to be tarnished due to unwarranted attacks. We request, keep calm and let the army talk to the students directly, who has saved our nation again. Let us work together for a peaceful solution and a brighter future. Please reject all forms of violence.”

Destructive activities should be avoided:
Prince Mahmud

“This is the victory of the students; this is the victory of the people. It should be remembered that the politics of violence is no more, not at all. This generation has fought for fair rights, and for the beautiful future of Bangladesh. It should take care of our awe. Must refrain from rioting and destructive activities. This sacrifice of fresh life must be remembered. May this sacrifice not fail. I want restraint, I want discipline, I want a human democratic country. We have seen the consequences of partisanship. We have seen the consequences of flattery. We have seen the consequences of clinging to power. We must learn from this. Let us not forget these things after a few days. I want a new Bangladesh without discrimination, not like the old one.”

What kind of Bangladesh we want depends upon students: Amitabh Reza
“It wins the new generation. I stood at Farmgate and said in solidarity with the students that they will decide the state. How Bangladesh wants in the future, it will be decided by the students. So, the new government should have their participation. Where the constitution needs to be changed, they should participate. It’s like restarting democracy. The outline given by our teachers’ network should be observed.”

Bangladesh becomes
independent again:
Alam Ara Minu

“Today’s freedom, this country, gives students. Today we got a taste of liberation for those who donated fresh life and fresh blood. Bangladesh became independent again. I hope to see the country in a new way. Now there are many more big tests left. More big tests in the coming days. It is a big responsibility to make the country beautiful now. This freedom cannot be sold in any way. We want peace.”

Ensure security of minority communities: Sabila Nur

“Let us ensure the safety of minority communities. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the country and the people of the country and the resources of the country.”

The students have proved that they are never
defeated: Hanif Sanket

“The student movement was never defeated. Congratulations to this young generation. Like in 1952, 1969 and 1990, students were in the leadership of the mass movement of 2024. This time the students proved it. We pray for the peace of their souls in return for their lives, and justice for these murders. I want to see a neutral, corruption free, democratic government, and those who will establish the rule of law. Through whom we will get a beautiful Bangladesh.”

May your blood not be wasted: Robena Reza Jui

“I would be able to see freedom while alive, once I gave up that hope. The fear of being beaten, murdered, and mentally harassed while saying something or writing something will not work. I will not delete the status again and again while writing – I will enjoy such freedom in my lifetime – I had lost hope even in imagination. My father was a freedom-fighter, never felt the need to get
a certificate, take benefits. I heard the story of liberation war from my father and now I saw my children win in the battlefield. We came in contact with the freedom-fighters of two eras. Our children who have been martyred and wounded in the battlefield, your blood should not be wasted. I pray that our future children can walk on the path of self-sacrifice shown by you, lead the country in a new way.”
