A foreign national was detained at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport after nearly 4 kg of cocaine was found in her luggage. The detainee was identified as Stalia Shantae, a Bahamian national. A ‘package of cocaine’ was recovered from her luggage, according to Ibrahim Kahlil, a spokesman for the airport. Shantae had travelled from Brazil to Dubai before arriving in Chattogram on Jul 13, he said. She did not have any luggage with her at the time. “Two days after she landed in Chattogram, she came to the airport to pick up her luggage. She was detained and a package of cocaine weighing 3,900 gm was seized after a search of her luggage.”The security personnel at the airport detained her.
Shantae had been under surveillance from the airport security team, police detectives, and the APBN after arriving in Chattogram, Khalil said.
