Hundreds of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) and Sonaragaon University (SU) students on Tuesday held a protest march at Science Lab intersection over Monday’s attack on quota reformists.
The demonstrators started their March at 3:30pm from Pantapath area of the campus.
At this time, the students started chanting various anti-quota slogans.
Students of UAP and SU blocked the road in Dhaka’s Green Road and Science Lab intersection. They first blocked one side of the road. Later, they blocked both sides and continued protesting.
An officer from the traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, wishing to remain anonymous, told the media that due to the students’ blockade, the Mirpur road is closed in both directions.
As a result, vehicles going through Kathalbagan, and heading towards Panthapath, Mirpur are stuck in a long traffic jam.
Meanwhile, students from NSU, IUB, and a few other universities started protesting at 11:50 am, resulting in road closures on both sides.
Meanwhile, students also blocked the road in the Notun Bazar area, but they moved away later, added the police official.
