Temperature to rise despite predicted rain

Despite the forecast of rain in various regions over the next two days, daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country are expected to rise, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department says.

Meteorologist Shaheenul Islam on Monday told bdnews24.com, “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty wind, is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Moderately heavy falls may also occur at places across the country, reports bdnews24.com.

“However, the possibility of rain is lesser in Dhaka but the mercury is likely to rise. The situation would ease once it rains at the end of the week.”

The BMD weather forecast for Tuesday says light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by a temporary gusty wind, is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Moderately heavy rainfalls may also occur at places over the country’s Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

The day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
On Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty wind, is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions, the forecast read.

Moderately heavy showers have also been predicted at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Tetulia recorded the highest rainfall of 38 mm while Chuadanga experienced the highest temperature at 36.8 degrees Celsius in 24 hours by 6pm on Monday, the Met Office said.
