ULAB CES organized a workshop titled “Diversity, Tolerance, and Society” at Government Brojomohun College, Barisal on Thursday.
The workshop was facilitated by Abantee Harun, associate professor at ULAB.
The event featured a keynote speech by Md Humayun Kabir Nujhat Jahan Khan, deputy manager at CES ULAB, provided an introduction to ULAB and ULAB CES, emphasizing their commitment to focus on diversity, tolerance, and pluralism.
The workshop aimed to build the soft skills of tolerance and peacebuilding among the students, as these are essential issues that are not formally discussed.
Abantee Harun emphasized that education involves many aspects, with values mainly taught within families.
She discussed causes of societal conflicts like fear, rumours, and insecurities, and highlighted how societal pressures can lead people to belittle others to make themselves feel superior.
