Teachers’ work abstention will continue

The teachers of the public universities protesting to exclude from Prottoy scheme decided to continue the work stoppage arguing that their demands are not met.

They also hoped the government will fulfill the demands.
They made the decision at an online meeting of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) after a the ‘satisfactory’ meeting with Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader regarding this issue.

Prof Akhtarul Islam, president of FBUTA, said, “We held a meeting and discussed yesterday’s discussion. Following it, we have came to a decision that as our demands have not been met, our movement is going on and will continue.”

Moreover the students at different universities have been observing their work stoppage on their campuses since July 01 demanding exclusion from the universal pension scheme_Prottoy’ and the reinstatement of their previous scheme.

Mentioned, a representative team of the teachers met with AL general secretary Obaidul Quader and some other government personnel on Saturday after thirteen consecutive days of all-out movement and work stoppage.
