Nafees Iqbal is seriously ill

Former player of Bangladesh National Cricket team and Logistic Manager of Bangladesh National Cricket team Nafees Iqbal is seriously ill.

He was suddenly attacked by brain stroke in Chattogram.

Nafees Iqbal is the elder brother of Tamim Iqbal, who is also a player of Bangladesh National Cricket team. Nafees Iqbal was brought by Air Ambulance from Chattogram to Dhaka on Friday.

Nafees Iqbal was with Bangladesh National Cricket team in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He acted as the Logistic Manager of Bangladesh Cricket squad.

After the ending of World Cup campaign, Nafees Iqbal returned home. He was staying at his native village in Chattogram.

Later, he was attacked by minor stroke in his brain. He has been admitted for better treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka. He will be given a better treatment here.

Earlier, Pitch Curator of the Chattogram Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Zahid Reza Babu gave a status on his Facebook. He wrote, ” Elder brother of Tamim Iqbal and former player of Bangladesh National Cricket team and Logistic Manager of Bangladesh National Cricket team Nafees Iqbal was admitted in a hospital as he became ill. May Allah give him early recovery. Ameen.”

It may be mentioned former captain of Bangladesh Cricket team and Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Akram Khan is his uncle.

After retirement from cricket, Nafees Iqbal served as the Team Manager of Bangladesh National Cricket team. Later, he has been appointed as the Logistic Manager of Bangladesh National Cricket team.

Nafees Iqbal, who is now 39 year’s old played 11 Test matches and 16 One Day International (ODI) matches for Bangladesh National Cricket team. He hit one century and two half-centuries in Test cricket. He struck two half-centuries in ODI cricket.

He played 120 First Class matches and 112 List A matches. He made his ODI debut against England in November of 2003. He made his Test debut against New Zealand in November of 2004. He played his last ODI matches against Australia in Cardiff in 2005. He played his last Test match in Bogura against Sri Lanka in 2006. He could not prolong his career due to injury.
