At least eight people injured in a clash between two groups of Barishal University (BU) officers about taking part in the strike protesting inclusion of public universities in universal pension scheme.
This incident took place in Barishal University area adjacent to the administrative building on Tuesday. At least eight people from both groups were injured in this incident and four of them have been sent to hospital.
In this incident, the human chain of the Direct Officers Association has gone spoiled and tensions created between the two groups of officers in the university over the attack.
Eyewitness students and teachers said the clash started when a newly-formed organisation of officers named Direct Officers Association wanted to join the programme of protesting inclusion of public universities in the universal pension scheme announced by the government.
Direct Officers Association of Barishal University with separate banner tried to join in the programme along Barishal University Officers Association, an altercation was started between them and both groups got involved in scuffles and clashes.
