The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found banned seven Brahman calves and five cows in Sadeeq Agro’s farm located at Savar Vakurta union Vanga Bridge (broken bridge) area on Monday.
A nine-member ACC team, headed by the Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad, led the drive at the farm.
During the drive the officials found the goat affair’s Tk15 lakh goat covered by a cloth. Besides, they have found banned seven Brahman calves and five cows, about 250 another cows, 12 camels and two horses.
ACC Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad said custom had seized banned Brahman cows in 2021.
Then they were sent to state-owned Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm in Savar. In last Eid-ul-Fitr these cows meat were sold. He said we have got allegation that the Sadeeq Agro is breeding banned Brahman cow in Savar. We also got few documents which are being seized.
ACC source said the Brahman cattle remained banned in Bangladesh since 2016. But in 2021 Sadeeq Agro imported 18 Brahman cows from USA through Tarkish airlines. Of them one cow had died on air.
That time Sadeeq Agro owner Imran Hossain had failed to provide legal documents over the import.
Sadeeq Agro had submitted three fake documents on the Brahman cow import. These were- a no objection certificate (NOC) over Cattle import, a letter from Department of Livestock Services (DLS) quarantine unit and Permit letter on import cattle from USA. That time custom officials identified these documents as fake.
