Taskin, Hridoy, Mustafiz reach Lanka to play in LPL

The ICC T20 World Cup came to an end on Saturday last between the final of India and South Africa in West Indies. Bangladesh National Cricket team returned to Dhaka on June 25. After that the Tigers took a few day’s recess. Vice-Captain of Bangladesh and right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed, prolific batter Towhid Hridoy and left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman reached Sri Lanka on Sunday to take part in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). LPL is a franchise based T20 cricket competition.
Towhid Hridoy and Mustafizur Rahman will play for Dambulla Sixers in LPL. Taskin Ahmed will play for Colombo Strikers in LPL.
Before leaving the country, Taskin Ahmed said to the newsmen, ” I shall for the first time play in LPL. Keep me in your prayers that I shall be fit and well during the tournament.”
Towhid Hridoy performed well in the last edition of LPL. He said, ” All the players play in the franchise based tournament from the very beginning. Now-a-days a good number of cricketers have played in the franchise based tournament. I shall try to do well in batting and fielding. Pray for me.”
The LPL will start on July 1 and will come to an end on July 21. This is the fifth edition of the LPL. A total of five teams are taking in the this year’s LPL. They are: Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Sixers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings and Kandy Falcons. The first phase of the tournament will be held on double league basis. A total of 20 matches will be held in the first phase. Then the three play-off matches will be held. The winners of the play-off matches will play in the final. The final will be held on July 21.
