Members of the Narcotics Directorate at Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district on Friday have arrested three people with 26,880 cans of beer from a covered van.
On Friday around 4 AM after chasing the suspected van Bashirul Islam (28), Mehedi Hasan Rabbi (26) and Rubel Munshi (27) were arrested along with covered van loaded with the beers by Narcotics Control Directorate during passing Patuakhali Toll Plaza area.
Among them, Bashirul Islam and Mehdi Hasan Rabbi are working in the Chinese contractor “Oriental Pearl” company of Kalapara Payra thermal power plant. Rubel Munshi is the driver of the covered van.
Narcotics Control Department Assistant Director Enayet Hossain said based on secret information, they came to know that a large shipment of narcotics from Payara marine port is going to Dhaka in a covered van.
