The Barguna district committee of Bangladesh Awami League has recently inaugurated the proposed “Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Women’s Training Institute (BSFMWTI),” a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing the political skills of female leaders in Bangladesh.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Barguna District Committee of the Bangladesh Awami League, marks the establishment of the first specialized institution dedicated to developing the political capabilities of women leaders in the country’s history.
The Women’s Empowerment Subcommittee of the Multilateral Advocacy Forum (MAF), Barguna, identified the lack of political skills among women as a significant barrier to their political empowerment.
Recognizing this need, they proposed the establishment of a women’s political training center. Accordingly, the subcommittee submitted a request to the President of the Barguna District Awami League to set up a training center to enhance the skills of women leaders for mainstream political participation.
Following this request, the President of the Barguna District Awami League endorsed and helped facilitate the initiative.
