Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has announced a budget of Tk 1,981 crore 52 lakh for the financial year 2024-25. He announced this at the budget session at City Corporation Theater Institute Chittagong (TIC) auditorium on Thursday (June 27) afternoon. This is his fourth budget. In the last fiscal year (2023-24), the budget was 1 thousand 887 crore 28 lakh taka, the revised budget was 1 thousand 661 crore 9 lakh 40 thousand taka. 88 percent of the budget has been implemented.
City Corporation Acting Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Ashraful Amin presided over the budget session.
Panel Mayor Afroza Kalam along with councilors and departmental heads of City Corporation were present.
The mayor said, I have taken responsibility for the debt of 1 thousand 75 crore taka. After three years of debt repayment, now City Corporation debt is Tk 440 crore, 113 crores 46 lakhs for income tax and 134 crores for value added tax have been deposited in the government treasury. 18 crore 41 lakhs has been paid for pleasure and 16 crores 96 lakhs for future fund.
In 2025, City Corporation accounting department will come under full automation.
The mayor urged the holding owners and government institutions to pay taxes regularly and keep civic services and development work in motion to build an aesthetic, clean, green, water-congested and livable city.
