Reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating corruption, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader declared a policy of zero tolerance with no exceptions.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new shuttle bus service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Quader stressed the independence of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in its investigations.
“The Prime Minister’s stance against corruption is unwavering,” Quader asserted. “The ACC operates independently and can investigate without any governmental interference.”
Acknowledging the global challenge of corruption, the minister conceded that Bangladesh is not immune. “We are not claiming Bangladesh is free of corruption,” he said frankly. “It’s wrong to assume only government officials are corrupt. Corruption exists in all sectors, including my own.”
Quader called for introspection and honesty in tackling the issue. “When we talk about corruption, we need to include everyone. Let’s start by examining our own actions,” he remarked.
Alongside the strong message on anti-corruption efforts, Quader also inaugurated the new shuttle bus service designed to ease travel for tourists, expatriates, and general passengers at the airport.
The event witnessed the participation of prominent figures including Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruque Khan, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation Chairman Md Tazul Islam.
