The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh has apprehended eight individuals, including alleged masterminds Mehdi Hasan and Sheikh Zahid bin Suja, for orchestrating a scheme involving fake job advertisements on platforms like Facebook.
The gang reportedly lured young women with promises of lucrative jobs, modeling opportunities, and talent hunts, exploiting them into engaging in sexual activities under threat of blackmail.
The operation, which spanned seven years, is estimated to have amassed around Tk 100 crores. The CID’s Cyber Police Center conducted raids across multiple locations to apprehend the suspects, uncovering their extensive network both within Bangladesh and internationally.
