RAB arrests Siam on charge of killing Rifat

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) has arrested Siam, the absconding accused in the Rifat murder case, who was found dead on the day of Eid in Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur. Accused Siam Ahmed (19) is the son of deceased Manju Mia of Mymensingh district.
On Sunday night, a team of RAB-1 arrested the absconding accused Siam from Abdullahpur.
RAB-1, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Assistant Director (Ops and Media Officer) Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media on Monday.
He said that the accused Siam Ahmed and his accomplices have confessed to have killed Rifat Mollah (22) due to a previous dispute.
Two mobile phones and two SIM cards were also
recovered from the arrested accused. According to RAB, Rifat Mollah took sacrificial beef from his brother-in-law’s house at 6 pm on the day of Eid-ul-Azhar on June 17 and went to his mother Muslima Akhter’s current home- Adorsho Para Barodeora – of Tongi West Thana in Gazipur.
On the same day at 8:30 PM, Rifat Mollah left his mother’s house to go out for a walk. On the same date at around 9:30 pm, he had his last conversation with his mother over mobile phone. Later on the same date Rifat Mollah’s mobile phone was switched off after 10pm. His mother searched everywhere for possible place.
On June 18, around 4 pm, the victim’s mother received news from the victim’s friends that someone had killed her son and dumped the body under the Turag River Patasha Bridge of Tongi. Later the police came and recovered the body.
In this incident, the victim’s mother Muslima Akhter filed a complaint with the Tongi West Police Station. In this case, the police investigated the shadow and arrested the accused Siam.
