Brutal double homicide shocks residents in Jatrabari

In a horrific incident, a man and his wife were brutally hacked to death in their residence at Jatrabari, Dhaka, on Wednesday night.

The victims, identified as Shafiqur Rahman, 60, and Farida Yasmin, 50, were found with severe injuries inflicted by sharp weapons, including deep wounds to their throats.

The tragic attack occurred at house number 175 in West Mominbagh, Jatrabari, according to Jatrabari Police inspector (operation), Towhidul Haque Mamun.

Shafiqur Rahman, who owned the four-story building where they lived on the first floor, and Farida Yasmin were discovered in different parts of their home.

“The couple has been killed sometime during the night, and their bodies were discovered this morning,” Inspector Towhidul stated. Farida’s body was found in their bedroom, while Shafiqur’s body was located in the parking area on the ground floor.

The motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear, and authorities are actively investigating the case.

Md Iqbal Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Wari division, assured that law enforcement is committed to uncovering the circumstances leading to the murders and apprehending the perpetrators.

Local residents have been left shocked and fearful by the incident, as such violent crimes are rare in the neighborhood.

There is a growing demand among the community for heightened security measures and prompt police action to ensure the safety and security of residents.
