A young man named Ifat has gone viral after purchasing a goat for 15 lakh taka from Sadeeq Agro in the capital for sacrifice during Eid-ul-Azha. Speculation arose that he might be the son of National Board of Revenue official Motiur Rahman. However, Rahman has publicly denied any connection to Ifat, stating, “I don’t know that boy who went viral in the goat incident. He is not my child. It is very embarrassing to involve my name.”
The owner of Sadeeq Agro, Mohammad Imran Hossain, clarified that Ifat initially booked the goat with a deposit of one lakh taka but has yet to pay the full amount or collect the goat. “A buyer named Ifat bought this goat from us for 12 lakh taka. We asked for 15 lakhs. He did not come to take the goat even after paying a booking money of one lakh taka. We are trying to contact him since June 11 night but we have not been able to reach him so far,” Hossain stated.
The incident gained traction on social media when a video featuring the goat and Ifat went viral. The gray-brown goat, weighing 175 kilograms and standing 62 inches tall, attracted significant attention due to its impressive size and hefty price tag. The goat, a Beetal breed, is the largest ever seen in Bangladesh, according to Hossain.
Ifat claimed he did not actually purchase the goat; instead, he played along at Imran Bhai’s request. “I did as he said,” Ifat explained. “Then took the picture and said yes, I bought Khasi. Actually, I did not buy it or bring it to my house.”
In this regard, the owner of Sadeeq Agro Imran said, a buyer named Ifat bought this from us for 12 lakh taka. We asked the price of 15 lakhs. He did not come to take Khasi even paid a booking money of one lakh taka. We are trying to contact him since June 11 night but we have not been able to contact him so far. We are still trying to contact him. But he is not picking up the phone.
The price of the goat, which is the subject of so much discussion, is the largest breed of goat in the world, said Mohammad Imran Hossain, owner of Sadeeq Agro. He said, the name of this breed is ‘Beetal’ and it is the biggest goat ever in Bangladesh.
Hossain said, there is only one goat of this rare species in Bangladesh. When asked if it was imported or not, Imran Hossain said that the goat was purchased from a market in Jessore two months ago.
How did this goat come to Jashore market? In this context, he said, we do not know that. However, such goats and big cows are sold in the village market in the early stage. After buying them from the market, we rear them and sell them.
‘When information comes to us, we immediately send people and buy it. Because we like the goat very much.
Imran Hossain claimed that the purchase price of this goat was Tk 10 lakh 35 thousand. There are more costs included to it.
That is why its price was fixed at 15 lakh Tk. Another reason for the high price of goats is the superior breed and pedigree.
