BNP undertakes major reshuffle in central committee

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has initiated a significant reshuffle within its central committee, restructuring 39 key positions including the appointment of a new vice-chairman and other pivotal roles.

According to a press release signed by the party’s Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon, formerly the Special Affair Secretary in the central committee, has been appointed as the new vice-chairman.

Additionally, several prominent figures have been appointed to the party’s chairperson’s advisory council, including former Joint-Secretary Generals Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Harunur Rashid, Lion Aslam Chowdhury, and former MP Zahir Uddin Swapan.

Organising Secretaries Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu and Dr. Sakhawat Hasan Jeebon, along with central leader Baby Nazneen and Engineer Khalid Hasan Chowdhury Pahin, have also been named as advisory council members.

Furthermore, former Organising Secretaries Abdus Salam Azad and Emran Saleh Prince, along with publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, have been appointed as Joint-Secretary Generals of the party.

In regional appointments, Sayedul Islam Bablu has been named Organising Secretary for Dhaka Division, Syed Shahin Shawkat Khaleq for Rajshahi Division, GK Gaus for Sylhet Division, and Shariful Alam for Mymensingh Division. Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, former Jubo Dal President, has assumed the role of BNP central Publicity Secretary.

The reshuffle comes amidst a period where BNP has dissolved its Dhaka, Chattogram, and Barishal city units, as well as the Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal central committee, despite the party’s council term having expired.

Earlier on Friday, BNP dissolved its Dhaka, Chattogram and Barishal city units and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal central committee.
