Villagers’ clash leaves 100 injured in Katiadi

At least 100 of people including eight cops were injured in a clash between two villagers announcing the mosque’s microphone over a trivial incident in Kishoreganj’s Katiyadi on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place between two villagers of Kargaon and Bhatta areas of Katiadi after cutting palm leaves on Wednesday afternoon. Police fired 30 rounds of blank fire to control the situation.
Police sources said a man named Roman (25) from Bhatta area of Kargaon Union went to fetch palm leaves from the palm tree of Soha Babu’s house in the neighboring area on Wednesday. He had an argument with Ismail, the son of Sahab Uddin of that area. Ismail beat Roman at one point. Later, due to the incident, an announcement was made on the microphone of a mosque in Kargaon area. Later, the people of Bhatta area entered the Kargaon area and looted the goods. Meanwhile, the people of the two villages started throwing bricks and jute at each other. Later, when the police stopped them, the people of the two villages attacked the police. Eight members of the police were injured.
Katiyadi Model Police Station filed a case against 23 people as defendants. Police arrested 23 people from the spot.
