A discussion on the Right to Information Act titled “Ensuring Transparency, Accountability in Proper Flow of Information and Promotion of Right to Information” was held at Maulana Bhasani University of Science and Technology on June 10, 2024, in the university auditorium.
The event was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Md. Farhad Hossain, who spoke as the chief guest. The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. ARM Solaiman, and the Treasurer, Professor Md. Sirajul Islam, also addressed the gathering as special guests.
Dr. Md. Azizul Haque, a professor in the Food Technology and Nutritional Science Department and Director of the Public Relations and Press Publication Department, delivered a detailed discussion on the topic. The welcome speech was given by University Registrar and APA Committee Convenor, Dr. Moha Touhidul Islam.
The discussion was chaired by Professor AK Obaidul Haque of the Food Technology and Nutritional Science Department, who is also the convener of the Information Rights Law and Service Committee APA.
The event was conducted by Md. Samshul Alam, Deputy Director of the Public Relations and Press Publication Department and Member-Secretary of the Information Rights Law and Information Services Committee APA.
The chief guest and other discussants emphasized the importance of the right to information, highlighting that it is a legal right passed by the National Parliament in 2009.
