A field day was held on biofortified zinc rich brie rice ‘Bangabandhu Paddy-100’ at Musharpara in Barabari upazila of Thakurgaon district. RDRS Bangladesh organized the field day under Harvest Plus’s Jauyainjh-ogh project at Masharpara on Tuesday. District Deputy Director, DAE Thakurgaon Md. Sirajul Islam was present as chief guest on the day. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Sazzat Hossain Sohel was present as special guest under the chairmanship of Barabari Union Federation Chairman Harprasad Chandra.
Assistant Agriculture Officer Md. Zahidul Islam, RDRS Bangladesh Technical Officer Md. Shahinur Islam, Technical Officer Md. RabiulAlam, Nepali Rani including journalists, dealers, more than one hundred and fifty farmers were present.
In the event, the cultivation method of zinc rice, the benefits of zinc rice, the need and importance of zinc in the human body, the production of zinc rice seeds, the daily zinc requirements of the human body through the regular consumption of zinc rice rice were discussed.
At the end of the discussion ceremony, the chief guest and other guests together with the farmers of the exhibition plot Mocha: Maslima Begum’s land, after threshing the harvested rice, the yield was tested.
The yield of Bangabandhu Dhan100 is measured at 7.5 tonnes per hectare.
