South Africa (SA) scored a modest 113 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against Bangladesh (BD) in their Group-D match of the ICC T20 World Cup (WC) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Monday. Bangladesh bowlers bowled really well and they restricted South Africa to a modest total.
Tanzim Hasan captured three wickets in the space of 18 runs, while Taskin Ahmed bagged a pair of wickets instead of 19 runs.
Besides, Rishad Hossain took one wicket for 32 runs.
Pacer Tanzim Hasan gave his team early breakthrough as opener Reeza Hendricks was trapped leg before wicket by the right-arm pacer when South Africa’s score was 11.
Tanzim Hasan struck again as opener Quinton de Kock (18) was bowled out by the right-arm pacer when the African side’s total was 19 for the loss of two wickets.
Country’s best pacer Taskin Ahmed struck as one-down Aiden Markram (4) was bowled out by the right-arm pacer when the Proteas’ score was 23 for the loss of three wickets.
Tanzim Hasan again shone with the cherry as second-down Tristan Stubbs (0) was caught at the short cover by Shakib Al Hasan off Tanzim Hasan when South Africa’s total was 23 for the loss of four wickets.
Third-down Heinrich Klaasen and fourth-down David Miller repaired the damage contributing together 79 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Klaasen was cleanly bowled out by Taskin Ahmed when South Africa’s score was 102 for the loss of five wickets.
Klaasen hit a polished 46. His 44-ball innings was belted with three sixes and two fours.
After Klaasen’s removal, Miller could stay at the crease for a short period as he was bowled out by Rishad Hossain when the Proteas’ total was 106 for the loss of six wickets.
David Miller made 29 from 38 deliveries featuring one four and one six.
